Registration1 for the 2026-27 School Year is currently open and will remain open until September 29th2.
1 For the 2026-27 school year, Alberta Education is continuing to include kindergarten-aged children (minimum age of 4 years 8 months old as of August 31, 2026) in the formal Home Education program. Registration with THEE thus includes students from Kindergarten to grade 12 for the 2026-27 school year. Funding per kindergarten-aged children is $450.50, which is an amount that is half the rate of a home education students who are in grades 1 to 12.
2 The last day to register (that is, to “notify”) so that you will receive your homeschool funding will be September 29th, but please do not wait until then (to find out why, click HERE). If your child is enrolled in any other school program beyond (approximately) September 20th, and you transfer your child to our home education program after September 20th, then you are risking that your child’s current school will not transfer-out your child from that school prior to September 29th in order that you may register/notify your child with our home education program on or before September 29th and thus with funding. You may hear the saying, “You have until September 29th to make your decision”. Technically, that statement is true, but in reality, the truth to that saying depends on your child’s enrolment status during the last week of September. By all means, do not send your child to the teacher-taught program or school campus on any day beyond September 25th.
Due to the problems that late-arriving (i.e. late in September) registrations pose for our program and for the student, we may not be able to support your intention to notify with our Home Education program if you wait until late September to complete the notification process.
Online Registration (i.e. "Notification") is currently open and will remain open until September 29th for grade levels from kindergarten to grade 12 (K-12).

We’ve provided below an instructions document that will walk you through every step of our online registration system.
Make a digital copy of your child’s birth certificate or Canada Visa/immigration document (for a new-to-thee home educating student; this is a one-time requirement). You will upload this image (as an Adobe Acrobat PDF form) into your online parent account during this online registration process.
*NEW-to-THEE refers to the student who (1) was enrolled or registered at a different school for the school year immediately prior to the school year for which the parent is registering the child here at THEE, or (2) joined THEE after the Count Date of September 29th of the current school year.
*RETURNING-to-THEE refers to the student who (1) was registered with THEE during the school year that is immediately prior to the school year for which the parent is registering the child here at THEE and (2) did not register at THEE after the Count Date of September 29th of the current school year. RETURNING-to-THEE family can also include a family who has at least one child home educating with us and who is registering a child with THEE who has not previously been registered with us (e.g. returning family with a new-to-thee child).
Alberta Education recognizes September 29th as the official, “Count Date”, for school enrolments, therefore, we must have received your Notification Form(s) no later than September 29th to be able to register your child with funding.
